Shift Details
This role offers night shifts, which run from 10:30 PM to 6:30 AM, with two possible scheduling patterns:

Wages are paid according to the BCNU (British Columbia Nurses’ Union) provincial agreement.
Primary Responsibilities of a Registered Nurse
In this role, your day-to-day duties will be critical to ensuring the health, safety and emotional well-being of our residents. As a Registered Nurse, you will be entrusted with responsibilities that demand clinical expertise, attention to detail, compassion and communication. Your tasks will include but are not limited to:

Managing Admissions and Discharges: You’ll coordinate resident transitions into and out of the care facility, ensuring all protocols, paperwork and family communications are handled with professionalism.

Performing Assessments and Creating Care Plans: Conduct detailed health assessments and develop customized care strategies for each resident, collaborating with the care team to meet their medical and emotional needs.

Medication and Treatment Administration: Administer medications as prescribed, provide wound care and oversee therapeutic procedures – all in accordance with provincial regulations and best practices.

Electronic Health Record Management: Accurately document care activities using software platforms like PointClickCare and complete Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments efficiently.

Collaborating with Healthcare Professionals: Liaise regularly with doctors, specialists, therapists and family members to ensure that each resident receives consistent, comprehensive care.

Supervising Care Aides and Support Staff: As a senior clinician, you will delegate responsibilities appropriately to licensed practical nurses and care aides, ensuring smooth operations throughout the shift.

Charge Nurse Leadership Duties: Take charge of shifts, oversee emergency responses and provide clinical guidance to team members.

Care Plan Meetings and Reviews: Participate in scheduled conferences to review care strategies, medication plans and long-term goals with residents and their families.
Candidate Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the Registered Nurse position:

Registered with the BCCNM (British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives): You must be in current and good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in B.C.

Certified in CPR and First Aid: You should possess current, valid certification in both Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid.

Experience with Digital Health Tools: Confidence and proficiency in electronic charting systems, particularly PointClickCare and eMAR, is essential.

Strong English Communication Skills: Must be fluent in both written and spoken English to communicate effectively with patients, families and colleagues.

Analytical and Decision-Making Skills: You must possess a strong ability to assess situations quickly and make informed decisions in high-pressure situations.

Long-Term Care Experience (Preferred): While not mandatory, prior experience working in residential or long-term care settings is an asset.
