Compensation Package

Core Responsibilities
As an Estimator, you’ll be responsible for:

Estimating Complex Bids: Generate highly detailed cost breakdowns using construction drawings, bid documents and specs. You’ll factor in materials, labor, subcontractor pricing, logistics and contingency plans.

Budgeting for Execution: Develop accurate project budgets, working closely with the project management team to forecast expenses, profit margins and change order potentials.

Tender Preparation & Submission: Craft persuasive, competitive bids in response to public RFPs and private sector proposals.

Market Analysis & Bid Sourcing: Continuously scout new business opportunities by analyzing bid boards, industry contacts and emerging market trends.

Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with the General Manager, Engineering and Project Management teams to align cost estimates with design intent and schedule feasibility.

Trend Monitoring: Keep tabs on construction costs, availability of marine-grade materials, labor rates and regulatory factors impacting bids.

Miscellaneous Tasks: Support the GM with any analytical or pre-construction responsibilities as required.
Qualifications and Skills Required
To succeed in this role, you should bring:

5+ years’ experience as a civil or marine Estimator, with a proven record of winning and executing projects in the $1M+ range.

Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Civil Technology or a related construction field.

CAD Proficiency: You must be able to interpret and work with AutoCAD drawings. Experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D software is a plus.

Tech Fluency: Skilled in Microsoft Excel and estimating software like HeavyBid, PlanSwift or Bluebeam.

Strong Communication: Ability to present bids, discuss estimates with leadership and work with vendors and subcontractors professionally.

Mathematical Accuracy: High numeracy skills and attention to detail are non-negotiable.

Multitasking Mindset: You’ll often work on several bids at once and must prioritize deadlines and document organization effectively.
